On June 8th, around 35 folks from three counties and two states gathered in Waverly, New York to haul water with tankers for 2-hours as part of our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar. The drill was sponsored and hosted by the Waverly-Barton Fire District. Prior to the 2-hr drill, participants spent all Saturday and Sunday morning reviewing the best practices of hauling water with tankers for fire protection operations. Eight tankers, three pumpers, and two fill sites were used to support the drill. A peak flow of 1663 gpm was attained during the last 30-minutes of the event. Many thanks to Chief Stermer and the Waverly-Barton Fire District for the excellent logistical support and hospitality. Instructors for the weekend were Mark Davis and Tim Legore.
The dump site pumper was able to use multiple suction lines in order to support a peak flow of 1663 gpm and supply three jet siphon water transfer devices.
