What's On Your Tanker? #59 - Washington Twp Tanker 21 - Looks a Bit Different

During our October 2024 seminar in Montoursville, Pennsylvania we came across Tanker 21, a 3000-gallon tanker from the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company in Elimsport. The rig caught our eye because it looks more West-coast tender-like than East-coast tanker-like....at least in our opinion. Digging a bit more into the design and construction of the tanker we found that it was designed and built by Mountain Hi Truck & Equipment out of Walla Walla, Washington.....which then all made sense to us regarding the "different look." The chassis was a repurposed 1997 Peterbilt truck chassis and the 3000-gallon tank and 500-gpm pump combination body was a 2006 design. The tanker did a nice job of hauling water during our 2-hour drill; it was able to support the rural hitch operation early in the drill and able support dump and run operations later in the drill. We also like the fancy, tank-level gauge...it was quite accurate.
Tanker 21 carries a 2100-gallon portable dump tank.
The business end of Tanker 21.
A plain and simple (and accurate) water tank level gauge.
