On Sunday, October 13th....a bunch of folks from Tallapoosa County, Alabama and the surrounding area participated in our 2-hr rural water supply drill as part of our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar. The program was sponsored by the East Alabama Training Association and the Alexander City, Dadeville, Stillwaters, and Union Fire Departments. The seminar was hosted by the Central Alabama Community College....a beautiful campus setting in Alexander City with plenty of water and space.. Four engines and seven tankers supported a peak flow of 1000 gpm during the drill. Three fill sites were used - one dry hydrant, one traditional drafting, and one vacuum tanker site. All of the participants worked very hard to keep water moving! Excellent work!
The 16-hr seminar was preceded on Friday by our 8-hr Water Supply Seminar hosted at the same facility. Lunch for each of the three days was provided by some local sponsors: many thanks to Emergency Equipment Professionals (Peter Holden, Friday class), NAFECO (John Wilson, Saturday Class), and Tallapoosa Co Commissioner John McKelvey (Sunday Class). Instructors for the three days were Mark Davis and Alan Butsch. A full summary will be posted on our website in a week or so.
