National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation
Walk of Honor
In October 2010, we were running one of our Rural Water Supply Operations Seminars at the Pine Mountain Volunteer Fire and EMS District in Blount County, Alabama. The seminar was being held the same weekend as the National Fallen Firefighters' Memorial at the National Fire Academy and the students in the seminar asked if they could make a donation to the National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation. We supported their efforts and low and behold, the concept took off like wildfire!
Now as part of our standard protocol at each seminar or class, we run a t-shirt raffle and donate 100% of the proceeds to the National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation in the name of the class. In addition, if the raffle raises $75.00 we will match those dollars and a brick will be purchased in the name of the class for placement in the "Walk of Honor" at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. To date, students and instructors in our seminars have purchased 52 bricks in the Walk of Honor and have contributed $8,888.00 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
In addition, we have also been able to raise over $1,900.00 and place bricks at the State memorials in Alabama, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin - and provide cash support to the Texas LODD Task Force, the Texas State Firefighters Memorial, and the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Many thanks to all who have donated!
