Jet Siphon Tip #02

When supplying more than one jet siphon, using a gated-wye can remove some of the stress on the pump operator by giving control of the siphons to another person whose sole job is to control the transfer of water. The photos that accompany this News Story are from our January seminar in Oconee County, South Carolina. The crew operating the dump site pumper used a 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" gated wye to set up the remote control of the jet siphons. The wye was manned by a firefighter whose job was to keep the primary dump tank full using two jet siphons to transfer water. The set-up worked just great and the folks supported a 960 gpm flow for two hours.
