During our seminar last month in Alexander City, Alabama, Chief Atkins and the folks from the Dadeville Fire Department brought a little different twist to the "rural hitch" game. We are going to call it the Dadeville Hitch; a triamese attached to one side of a double-clappered siamese. The set-up allowed for three tankers to be connected to the attack pumper's supply line while leaving one side of siamese "open" and ready for the transition to dump tank operations. The set-up worked really well for this drill. The hitch make-up was carried on the first-arriving tanker and the crew deployed that before beginning to pump off their water. Water flow was never interrupted during the nurse-tanker operation (30 minutes) and the transition to the 1000 gpm dump tank operation was very smooth. Our official "final" answer on the set-up is still out....but we do certainly like how it worked.
