On Sunday afternoon October 8th, folks from the Clyde Fire Department and several other surrounding fire departments put their rural water supply skills to the test as they practiced hauling water for 2-hours using tankers. The drill culminated our 16-hr Rural Water Supply Operations Seminar that was sponsored by the Clyde-Galen Fire District and hosted by the Clyde Fire Department. Eight tankers, three pumpers, and two fill sites were used to support the 2-hour drill where a peak flow of 1000 gpm was attained during the latter part of the event. The folks worked hard and had to overcome a couple of issues that arose but in the end everyone did a really great job keeping that water flowing - even after losing two tankers to a nearby structure fire. Many thanks to the Clyde Fire Department and its members for the excellent logistical support and food! Instructors for the weekend were Mark Davis and Alan Butsch.
