One of our Staff Correspondents sent us some photos of a dry hydrant near Wausau, Wisconsin. We have seen this design used in other places around the country. It is a simple design that works pretty well and uses 45-degree elbows to reduce friction loss in the piping. One disadvantage is the exposed pipe - but, like we said, the simple design is pretty effective. This dry hydrant could use a little UV protective paint and some preventive maintenance. |
