The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company located in central Maryland will soon be taking delivery of a 2012 Spartan/Rosenbauer engine. This engine will serve as the primary response engine for a suburban/rural area that contains many hazards including Interstate highway, main line railroad, large farms, and large "McMansions" in areas with no hydrants.
The new engine is equipped with a Hale Q-Max 1,500 gpm pump, a 1000-gallon (poly) water tank, two, 30-gallon foam cells, a 10,000-watt generator, a remote controlled deck gun, and a Rosenbauer E-Z Foam system. One foam cell will carry Class A foam and the other Class B foam concentrate. The unit will also carry 1500 feet of 5" supply hose and 5 preconnected handlines.
This unit is due to be received at the MAVFC around September 26th. Training and equipment placement is expected to take about 6 -8 weeks to facilitate. This unit will replace a 1995 Spartan/Saulsbury engine that has served the community well. The old engine has been purchased by Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus. |
