Preconnected Master Streams #02 - Keeping it Simple in Colton, New York

Many small town and rural area FDs face staffing issues 24/7. Anything that one can do to improve the efficiency of delivering "big water" on the fire ground is welcomed. Those departments that are best at maximizing the gpm/person ratio of water applied per person often use pre-connected, portable master stream devices.
Our friends at the Colton FD in wayyyyy Upstate New York run a preconnected TFT Blitzfire on their first-out pumper. The Blitzfire has become a mainstay in many rural and small town FDs. When equipped with the automatic nozzle, the device can flow from 50 to 500 gpm with ease. In addition only one or two people are needed to deploy it and it can be left unmanned if need be.
We like the idea of keeping it simple - yet effective. The folks at the Colton FD clearly get it!
Nothing fancy here!!! The pre-connected TFT Blitzfire is mounted and ready for quick deployment.
Nothing fancy here either! A nice, commercial chassis pumper adequately equipped to operate as the first arriving pumper at a structure fire. The two person crew can quickly deploy the Blitzfire if needed and apply 500 gpm with minimal staffing needed.
